Matt Kirchner Appointed to American Technical Education Association Board of Trustees

Matt Kirchner, President of LAB Midwest, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees for the American Technical Education Association. Kirchner, who also serves as the Host of The TechEd Podcast, takes on this role as part of his mission to secure the American dream for the next generation of STEM and workforce talent.

For 23 years, Matt led Midwest manufacturing companies and witnessed lives fundamentally changed for the better by the career opportunities in the skilled workforce. Today Matt leads ATS/LAB Midwest, the premier distributor of curriculum, eLearning and training systems for education and industry. In this role, he leads a team of individuals serving businesses and education to help them train up the next generation of students and learners for high-wage, high-demand careers.

He also hosts The TechEd Podcast, a weekly podcast that features conversations with the world’s leading innovators in education, industry, and public policy. The podcast is all about aligning the efforts of technical education and the needs of the workforce, especially around advanced technology and future skillsets.

Kirchner joins a group of talented, innovative leaders in education on the ATEA Board of Trustees. Fellow members include:

• Dr. Sandra Caldwell, Executive Director – Wyoming Community College Commission and Wyoming State Higher Education Executive Officer
• Dr. David Dore, President of Campuses and Vice Chancellor of Student Services, Workforce and Innovation – Pima College
• Dr. Matthew Janisin, Vice President of Business and Workforce Solutions – Gateway Technical College
• Dr. Brad Tyndall, President – Central Wyoming Community College

Dr. Jon Connolly, President of the ATEA Board of Trustees, shared a message about the new board members:

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we welcome these distinguished leaders in technical education to the Board.  We look forward to their leadership of this significant organization, founded in 1928, focused on technical education and its role and importance in  building the American  workforce  with careers for the individual and serving the nation’s businesses and  industries.
